Event description

Description

The University of Maryland Extension Program, St. Mary’s County Government Department of Public Works and
Commission on the Environment are offering a series of environmental workshops for residents. The rain barrel session will focus on the practical uses for rain barrels and how they reduce the impact of runoff on our local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase rain barrels, and learn the techniques for later installation. The composting session will include basic information/demostration on starting to compost at home. We will also be hosting a workshop on shoreline health for waterfront property owners.

Join us for any one topic or all three!

Participants will have the opportunity to purchase compost bins and/or rain barrels and receive information/demonstrations on both topics and oysters. Workshops will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds.
