All young adults are welcome to join the St. Martin of Tours Camping Trip!

Friday July 28- Sunday July 30

Sanborn County Park, Saratoga, CA

If you enjoy tent camping, hiking, prayer and fellowship with friends out in God's beautiful nature this is the trip for you!

Registration ends July 16 by 11:30pm for camping

Registration ends July 24 by 11:30pm for hiking

We only have campsites for 36, so we will have to close the overnight camping option after 36 ppl sign up.

FAQs

I can't get out of work that early on Friday, what are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We will leave from St. Martin of Tours in 2 groups at 3:30pm and 6:30pm on Friday, or you can meet us down there, if those times don't work for you. You must arrive at Sanborn before 10pm.

We will carpool back to St. Martin of Tours as well so you can leave your car there over the weekend. We plan to leave Sanborn around noon and arrive back at St. Martin of Tours around 12:30pm

I don't own a tent/sleeping bag/ etc. Can I still come?

You don't have to own a tent/sleeping bag/etc. to come, we will borrow from friends and family to make sure we have gear for everyone. If you have extra gear that you are willing to share (camping chairs, tents, sleeping bags) let us know in the comments section of your registration or send us an email.

I'm coming with my friend, can I make sure we are in the same tent group?

We have 6 adjacent camp sites so we will all be in the same area. We will help group people into tents to make use of the tents we have. Unless married, we will designate tents as 'ladies' and 'gentlemen.' You may definitely help us out by letting us know if you are coming with a friend you want to share a tent with. And by telling us how many people fit comfortably in your tent if you are bringing one.

What is the restroom situation?

There are structured bathrooms both near the campsites and in the day-use section of the park that have flush toilets, real sinks and foam soap. Both are stocked with toilet paper. There are also free hot water showers at Sanborn that are in the day-use area of the park, near the parking lot. (About .1- .2 mi from out campsite- a short walk)


Do we have to bring enough bottled water for the whole weekend?

There is a spigot at our campsite with potable water, so we will not need to bring bottled water or pump water.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

We will send out a list of what to bring to camping participants as we get closer to the trip. You are strongly encouraged to bring a musical instrument, games to play, and an open heart.

Everyone is asked to bring a snack to share. The Organizing team will be providing all the food for Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast.

What will we do on the camping trip?

We will have prayer time together each day and a whole weekend of fellowship. Saturday morning we will have Mass with Fr. Abe at 10am followed by options to hike or play games in the open grassy area or both. Saturday evening you have the option to attend a performance of Hamlet by Silicon Valley Shakespeare Company in the Sanborn Amphitheater (tickets purchased separately) or hang out around a campfire for S'mores and some Praise and Worship! We will have people doing both options and you can let us know if you want to attend the play in your registration. (We will be looking for a deal on tickets. Tickets for the play are separate from this registration so we can't guarantee availability. Current price online is about $22 for the play) more info:

I would love to join you for the day on Saturday, but I am unable to spend the night. Can I do that?

You may! You should register using the $10 ‘Hiking/Lunch/Dinner’ option. You will also need to bring $6 with you to pay the entrance station for a day-parking pass. Then you can park and join us by 10am if you'd like to make Mass, or shortly after to join us for hiking, lunch and dinner on Saturday and whatever other fun things we do that day. You should come to the planning meeting (see other FAQ) for details on when to arrive on Saturday.

What does the site look like?

If you have been to Sanborn and are familiar with their layout we opted to get 6 sites that are closer to parking lots and day-use area rather than take the group site that was a 1/2 mile hike in. The sites are 4,5,6,7,8,9 and are tucked back away from the main path and the other campers. It does mean we can't be as loud at our campsites, but we are so close to the day-use area that we will gather there for large group activities such as Praise & Worship and Games.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We will have your name on a registration list. No need to bring a ticket.

What is the refund policy?

100% until July 16. No refunds available after July 16.

We will have a camping trip planning Meeting at 7pm on July 18th for everyone going on the camping trip so that we can make sure everyone has gear and knows where they are going and what to expect as well as allowing you to meet the other campers! If you find out that you cannot go prior to this meeting we will refund you 100%. After this meeting we will not be able to give you your refund, sorry.
