About The Pastor

Adolphus C. LaceyReverend Dr. Adolphus C. Lacey is the 11th pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, a 121-year old house of worship serving the Bedford-Stuyvesant community in Brooklyn, New York. A native of Kansas City, Kansas, he was called to the pulpit with a mandate to preach, teach, and inspire diverse communities throughout this nation. His career in ministry began as associate pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, New York, where he helped manage Grace Community Development Corporation, a not-for-profit interfaith social service agency. This led to a senior pastorship at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Peekskill, New York. There, he established television, after-school, and economic development ministries to serve the Westchester community at large. Dr. Lacey is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi; he holds a bachelor of arts degree from Ottawa University, a master of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary and a doctor of philosophy degree from Northwestern University. He also holds a certificate from the Harvard University Divinity School's Institute for Church-based Community and Economic Development. To learn more, click here.

About St. Jude's

St. Jude HospitalSt. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a pediatric treatment center and research facility in Memphis, Tennessee, focused on children's catastrophic diseases. It was founded by entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962 on the premise that "no child should die in the dawn of life". Although it was named after St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes, the facility is not a Catholic hospital and is not affiliated with any religious organization. St. Jude has one of the largest pediatric sickle cell research and treatment programs in the world, prompting Kappa Alpha Psi, a predominantly black male fraternity, to establish a partnership in July 2005. Sickle cell disease affects black commuinties at an unnecesarily high rate. In response, the fraternity has raised more than $2.1 million and is committed to raising $500,000 annually in support of the hospital’s sickle cell program. As a result of the fratenity support and funding from other sources, St. Jude became the first known hospital to cure sickle cell disease through bone marrow transplantation. Today, bone marrow transplantation still offers the only cure for sickle cell disease. To learn more or to give directly to St. Jude, please click here.
