About this event

Join us for September's Kitchen Table as we discuss "Faith and Vocation: Trusting God in Times of Uncertainty." Our discussion will be led by Shancia Jarrett, a transitional deacon and a housing advocate.

Shancia Jarrett is an ordained transitional deacon in The Episcopal Church and awaits her ordination into the priesthood within the next five months. As a recent graduate of Yale Divinity School, Shancia studied community development and its impact on pastoral ministries. She also took an academic interest in housing and environmental disparities by petitioning the Environmental Protection Agency to address the high rates of lead poisoning and soil remediation in New Haven distressed communities.

Currently, Shancia works as an Affordable Housing Consultant and the Convener of New Haven's Affordable Housing Task Force. Within her professional career, Shancia affirms her discipleship through the virtues of charity, wisdom, justice, and courage. She aspires to become a parish minister who is committed to evangelism and community engagement through education and housing ministries.
