About St. James Academy:

St. James Academy is intentionally a K-8 school with a strong curriculum that builds upon each year, preventing gaps or holes and ensuring nine consistent years of academic preparation for success in high schools of choice and beyond. Activities in the classroom foster creativity and promote exploration. Lessons are built to encourage open-ended conversations, inquiry, and creativity while balancing the importance of developmental concepts and skills. The Academy is dedicated to providing a program of excellence while developing each student’s highest potential in intellect, character, and physical well-being. When a child joins the Academy, we welcome the whole family into our community. For more information please click here.

Paul’s Place is a leader for change, improving the quality of life, in several Southwest Baltimore communities. They provides programs, services, and support that strengthen individuals and families, fostering hope, personal dignity and growth. For more than thirty years Paul’s Place, which began as a small soup kitchen in the basement of St. Paul the Apostle Church on Washington Boulevard, has been serving the community. Paul’s Place now offers more than two dozen services and programs to low-income individuals and families. They plan to continue to expand those programs and to partner with other organizations to improve the quality of life in Southwest Baltimore. Their long-standing relationship with students, teachers and parents from St. James is just one example of a mutually beneficial partnership.

Each November, the Student Council at St. James asks the community to participate in a Thanksgiving Food Drive. The seventh grade class then delivers all of the collected items to Paul’s Place, where they volunteer their time preparing and serving food, as well as sorting clothing donations. The relationship between the two communities truly fosters the importance of giving. All of our students at SJA are reminded that every penny donated to Paul’s Place can change a life and that every minute given as a volunteer impacts someone. Each can of food fills a hungry stomach and gives hope. Reaching out to others always makes a difference!

Event Guidelines:

Please no roller blades, skates, bikes, dogs, pets or headphones allowed on the race course. Your race number must be worn on your front and must be visible. DO NOT exchange or give your race number to another participant.
