Sr. High Fall Retreat 2016!

September 23-24

Students in 9th-12th grades

For this year's fall retreat for Sr. High we will be going New Jersey for a river tubing adventure and camping trip! We will be leaving on Saturday morning so you dont miss any of your friday night games or activities and then head up to Delaware River Tubing in Milford, NJ for a trip down the water! We will be encountering. Lunch will be provided for us on the river by the legendary Hot Dog Man who cooks BBQ out of his raft in the middle of the Delaware River. After our day a float, we will head over to Tohikan Family Campground to set up camp for the evening. We will be staying on a Group Tent site, so you need to bring a tent or a frend who has one! This year there will be SHOWERS availible!!! We'll have dinner out and some entertainment before turning in for the night. The next morning we will have HOT breakfast and some morning worship before we head home around 11am which should put us home around 1pm.

More information on the trip details what you need to pack for the trip will be made availible to the people after the register. Please be sure to fill out a Liability waiver availible here

All meals (Saturday lunch & dinner and Sunday breakfast) and transportation to and from the church is included for a low cost of just $75 per person! Be sure to sign up soon as space is limited.

Packing List

Last time was COLD. We are doing it earlier this year and not up in the mountains so I would hope that it would be a tad warmer. We also might change to canoeing, kayaking, or rafting if the weather is cold. Here are some packing tips in case of cold weather.

  1. Wool is AMAZING. Wool is one of the few things that will still keep you warm even when its wet. I recommend wool socks and shoes, (water proof boots if you have them). Wool or fleece hat, wool/fleece/pile sweater, wind breaker, wind pants are a good call too, but it really depends on how cold you usually get. I will probably still wear shorts and a long sleeve shirt and a rain jacket. Really just try to avoid cotton.
  2. Bring a change of clothes and a dry towel for as soon as we are done. You will want to change as soon as we get out of the water.
  3. Closed toed shoes are a MUST for the river.

We are also going to be camping at Tohickon Family Campground on Saturday evening. If you have a tent, let me know if you are bringing it and who is going to be sleeping in it. If you have not used your tent in a LONG time, please please please take it out and set it up at home before you come this weekend so you know there are no holes and that all the poles are there. Here are some other things that you will need.

1. A sleeping bag. Pillows are good too :)
2. A ground pad (i.e. thermarest, air mattress, foam pad) These things will keep you warmer than a sleeping bag because it will keep you off the ground. It’s not just for comfort.
3. Warm clothes to sleep in.
4. a flashlight/headlamp/latern
5. A snack to share with everyone.
6. A Bible

Everything else should be self explanatory. Clothes for tubing, Clothes for after tubing, clothes for sleeping, clothes for Sunday morning, camping stuff, toiletries, ect. If you have any questions, please let me know ASAP. We will be providing lunch and dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday. We may stop for lunch on the way home so bring some cash for that. We should be home around 1:00ish on Sunday. We will have people text rides at that time.

One last thing. On Sunday morning we will be doing a “Quaker style worship service.” Everyone will have the opportunity to bring something they want to worship (song, scripture, reflections, questions, anything) I wanted to give you the opportunity to start thinking about that now if you would like.
