Description

Black Belt For DBAs

In the modern world of information technology, SQL Server DBA tasks exceed typical Administration and T-SQL development. Each new SQL Server version brings additional technologies that help streamline and improve its functionalities. Within the last decade, SQL Server has evolved into a sophisticated Enterprise RDBMS tool, and it continues to grow by providing more functionalities to store and manipulate data reliably.

PowerShell, .NET, XML and JSON skills often appear in SQL Server DBA job requirements because the ability to work with those allow the DBA to adapt faster and more efficiently when solving different types of problems. This session designed to bring you up to speed with following technologies:

.NET integrated with SQL Server as CLR (Common Language Runtime) objects. Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers can be coded in CLR to replace T-SQL language, especially for the processes that T-SQL is not able to complete efficiently. .NET is also widely utilized in SSIS Script Tasks.

PowerShell provides help for SQL Server DBAs to improve their daily activities, automate and simplify monitoring, patching, deployments and managing the SQL Server instances.

XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is one of the technologies that SQL Server implements not only for data manipulation but also for internal usage, such as Execution Plans, Extended Events, DDL trigger Eventdata() function, and behind-the-scenes construction for SQL Server Business Intelligence Tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) for SQL Server, introduced in SQL Server 2016. JSON has many similarities to XML, however they are not the same. JSON can be thought of as a “fat-free” version of XML. In SQL Server 2017, Microsoft began implementing JSON in system objects, and in turn, DBAs and developers now take JSON more seriously.

Each attendee will receive a signed copy of my book, "XML and JSON Recipes for SQL Server"
