SQL Server Query Plans: Tuning and Management
SQL Server DBAs need to know about query plans and the optimizer in order to understand why queries perform the way they do. This knowledge is invaluable when troubleshooting poorly performing queries.
Led by Microsoft SQL Server MVP Kalen Delaney, this all day seminar includes extensive demonstrations that illustrate the details of SQL Server query processing as well as tuning techniques. This seminar will be presented on SQL Server 2008 and cover features specific to that version, but all of the information is relevant to SQL Server 2008R2, most of the information is relevant to SQL Server 2005 and some is relevant to SQL Server 2000. Topics to be covered include the following:
• Query Processing and Query Plans
• Optimization and Recompilation
• Exploring and Managing the Plan Cache
• Query Tuning Tips and Techniques
Seminar Prerequisites: Basic understanding of SQL Server indexes and querying.
