Event description
SQL Server Query Plans: Reuse or Recompile

About this Event

The seminar includes extensive demonstrations that illustrate the details of SQL Server plan caching and recompilation. We’ll look at the metadata available to help us explore the plan cache and discuss the various mechanisms that SQL Server uses to decide when and how to cache and reuse a plan.

This seminar will be presented on SQL Server 2017 and cover features specific to that version, but most of the information is relevant to SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2014 and some earlier versions as well.

Topics:

• Overview of Query Plans

• Optimization and Recompilation

• Exploring and Managing the Plan Cache

• Parameter Sniffing

• Determining when recompilation is preferable to plan reuse
