Spyware and Malware: an insider's perspective
Event Information
Description
Malware has grown from minor annoyance to major hassle to possible-ruinous in the span of a couple of decades. When the Internet was young, malware was usually annoying pop-ups that hogged system resources. Today, malware brings down the Internet on the entire US east coast for hours, it extorts money from hundreds of thousands of computer users, and it is deployed by nation states in the jockeying for geo-political influence.
The chances are good that you have had some on one of your devices already. Come hear the confessions of a developer who was there in the earlier days of malware creation. Ever wonder why anyone bothers? Or if malware actually makes money? Or want to know a bit about how it is done, or what is possible to do? Our former spyware developer may very well have the answers for you!
