Volant Autonomy is a spin-out from the University of Bath, developing autonomous guidance systems for the nascent unmanned aviation sector. The company was incorporated in 2018, and secured seed funding and hired its first employees in 2020. This talk will cover the journey so far, from the formation of the company, initial funding and investment, the evolving relationship with the university, and present-day operations and objectives. It will talk about the technology being developed, a vision of the future ecosystem it fits into, and will finish with reflections on the elements of the academic skillset that have proved useful, and the new skills that have been learned along the way.

Presented by Dr Job du Bois, Volant Autonomy , Chief Technology Officer
