Description

SPTLGT 2018, is a benefit concert and panel discussion featuring talented creatives in Toronto that seeks to place a spotlight and address mental health concerns amongst minority creatives.

The event takes place April 30th from 8pm - 12 am at the Gladstone Hotel with doors opening at 7pm.

The panelists for the evening will include rapper Sean Leon who is the founder of IXXI Initiative formed in 2012 in Toronto. He is also a visual artist, producer, and director, and utilizes all of the above in the presentation of his music. Born and raised in Ajax, Ontario, he kicked off his rap career in 2013 with the mixtape Ninelevenne, the Tragedy, which, in the style of a concept album, told the story of an Icarus-like character. Another mixtape, Narcissus, the Drowning of Ego, followed in 2014, then Leon turned strictly to singles and online uploads for the next two years. He returned to the album format in 2016 with the release of Black Sheep NIRVANNA. In 2017, he released I Think You've Gone Mad (Or the Sins of the Father) the second release in his Black Sheep NIRVANNA series followed up by C.C.W.M.T.T. in 2017.

David Forteau is a dancer who is also the director for World of Dance Canada, artist manager for TEA Kittagucci, and the marketing & sales director at Kollar Clothing.

Malcolm Omoruyi, one of Toronto's upcoming male models that has modeled for Get Fresh Company and Kollar Clothing, Nomad Toronto, Fear of God by Jerry Lorenzo along with many other clothing brands.

He has also been featured in Pause Magazine.

Jodianne Beckford, a prominent local photographer who has shot at the 2016 CAF Awards and Fall 2017 New York Fashion Week. She has captured former CP24 News reporter Nneka Elliott, model Winnie Harlow, photographer Ishmil Waterman, photographer and videographer O'shane Howard, Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth along with many other celebrities and influencers in the global creative community.

Jodianne is also the host of the popular, E Podcast.

Amy Hosotsuji, a notable community outreach organizer, workshop facilitator, host and strategizer in equity, healing and the arts that has worked with organizations such as Grassroots Youth Collaborative, Manifesto, RISE Edutainment among many others in the past.

Performers for the evening will include Taveeta, Just John, Tobi Ogude.

There will be an after party from 12am to 2am happening afterwards.
