Event description

Description

Over the past years I have traveled the country as a motivational speaker and consulted with USA Basketball, NBA general managers, NBA athletes, D1 college coaches and college players on several topics including mental toughness. From my work it has been made very clear to me that this generation of athletes are not mentally tough and many don't have access to sport psychology consulting services. For those that do have access, many are apprehensive about taking advantage of sport psychology consulting services. That is why starting on June 30, 2018 I will be traveling to cities throughout Michigan on my Millennial Mental Toughness & Social Media Etiquette Training Tour.

The goal is to familiarize and empower students-athletes with mindfulness based performance enhancement concepts through sport psychology consulting sessions that will help them in their player development in sports and professional development in life. From this experience, student-athletes will take advantage of sport psychology consulting services when they reach the college or professional sports level.

SPS will provide three hours to training session to athletes and non-athletes from the 6th to 12th grade. Although that is the target demographic, all who are mature enough to attend are welcome.

Got mental toughness? Millennial Mental Toughness Training (MMTT) students will become better equipped to self-evaluate and self-regulate their emotions and actions. This will be done through the principles of Mindfulness that empower students to be “present and “non-judgmental”. The goal is for students to learn to live in FLOW, which is being in a constant state of optimal mental and physical performance.

The 12 Rules of Flow covered are: Imagery, Mental Rehearsal, Positive Self-Talk, Maintaining Proper Motivation, Breathing Relaxation Techniques, Concentration, Emotional Control, Confidence, Forming Positive Health Habits, Getting Quality Sleep and Striving Under Pressure. The course is available for ages 12-18.

Learn to develop the practical skills of mindfulness meditation, including methods for deepening concentration and responding skillfully to physical pain, stress, and difficult emotions and thought patterns.

Sponsorship and partnership opportunities are available as well.
