Event description

Description

Friends of the National Arboretum need your help planting native shrubs and grasses along the newly restored Springhouse Run, a stream that runs through the Arboretum and into the Anacostia River.

The stream has been beautifully restored with pools and riffles, rocks and waterfall and wide floodplain. Next up is planting thousands of native plants grown from seeds gathered by the Arboretum staff and local garden clubs.

We'll have two "train the trainer" sessions, open to 20 folks, then three "open planting" days with 50-60 volunteers needed for each day.

We'd like anyone attending a training session to commit to helping with at least one of the "open planting" days, showing novice planters how to successfully plant shrubs and grasses.
