Springfield Day of Dance
Sat, April 22, 2017, 10:30 AM – 2:45 PM CDT
Join us as we celebrate the diverse styles of dance in Southwest Missouri during the first ever Springfield Day of Dance. This event is open to dancers, beginner to advanced, age 7 and up! Get your feet off the ground with aerial dance, spin round with a partner during contra dance, try belly dancing for the first time, or step to the beat with Irish, clogging, and hip hop. Short performances as well as a brief question and answer session with workshop instructors follow each class. Best of all, the event is completely FREE! Registration Required!

About the Teaching Organizations: Teaching organizations participating in Springfield Day of Dance are volunteering their time to share their craft and love of dance with you. Please visit www.springfielddancealliance.com to learn more about what their workshops will entail. There you can also find links to their websites.
What to wear: Specific dance attire not required. Just wear something comfortable to move in (think athletic or gym wear, leave the dress and jeans at home). If you are planning on trying out aerial, pick something that isn’t too baggy. You’ll also want to pack a pair of socks and sneakers. You are welcome to bring ballet flats or jazz shoes if you would like, but they are not necessary.
Parking: Please plan ahead and allow time for parking before the event. Attendees are encouraged to park in Missouri State University Lot 8. Parking there is free on the weekends and is just north of Foster Recreation Center. If for some reason that lot is full, you are also welcome to park in Lot 29 at the corner of National and Bear Blvd., but note that is about a two block walk. Missouri State University’s shuttle system runs all over campus and is free for the community to use – please take advantage of this great service especially in the event of a rainy day. A map of MSU's parking, shuttle routes, as well as directions to Missouri State University's campus can be found here.
Registration: Online registration is required. Please note space is limited. You will be asked to indicate which class you would like to attend on the registration form. Some classes may fill up faster than others. If a class is marked not available it is full. You are welcome to still observe that class or register for the other option. We want to remind you that this is an opportunity to try a dance style you may have never encountered before or thought of taking and all of the organizations have great classes planned!
Attendees 12 and under: If you have a child 12 or under attending the event, we request a parent or caregiver be present during the lunch break. We will have a couple of volunteer staff in the vicinity to help direct attendees to bathrooms, lunch areas, and assist the next group of teachers in setting up for their classes, but we WILL NOT have volunteer staff on hand to supervise attendees during this time or walk them to the PSU for lunch if you choose not to pack a lunch. Parents or caregivers are welcome to leave children 12 and under during the class times and the brief break between 1:30 and 1:45pm. You are welcome to stay during the entire event and observe the classes or register to take class yourself.
Questions: Please address additional questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
