Two years after John announced on our honeymoon that he wanted to quit his job and "do something in cheese," we unlocked the front door to our very own cheese shop on February 11, 2010. We've been asked many times since, "Why a Cheese Shop?" and the answer is simple. After putting ourselves through cheese bootcamps, running a cheese club out of our house, attending cheese conferences, interning for French affineur Herve Mons, journeying through Europe, and eating our way through thousands of tasty cheese morsels, we honed in on our true passions: eating, talking, traveling, and spending time together. Over a bottle of wine one evening, we realized that working behind a cheese case would bring them all together.
Springdale Handmade and Play Dough Pop-Up Shop at Antonelli's Cheese House, featuring Fall Creek Vineyards
Join us Sunday, December 4 from 1 to 5pm at Antonelli's Cheese House for a Pop-Up Shop showcasing some of the best Texas treats around. Enjoy doughnuts and pastries by acclaimed executive pastry chef Janina O'Leary as you peruse a collection of specially-made holiday gift baskets replete with soaps, body creams, and bath salts - all handmade by Carla Crownover and Paula Foore of Springdale Handmade. To treat you for shopping locally, Fall Creek Vineyards will be on hand leading us in a tasting of some of their wines. We hope you'll join us celebrate the holiday season! This event is free and open to the public. So that we have enough goodies to go around, register yourself here.
Note: Parking is available in the Cheese House parking lot, in front of the Cheese Shop, and in the neighborhood along Barrow Ave and Ave H. If you arrive prior to 1pm, feel free to visit our Cheese Shop across the street for complimentary tastings. At the Pop-Up Shop, Springdale Handmade and Play Dough will both have goods available for sale. Should you wish to purchase a bottle of Fall Creek Vineyards wine after the complimentary tasting, it will be available for sale in our Cheese Shop.
***Antonelli's Cheese House, located across the street from their retail shop, is a 104-year old house used as an event venue. While the Antonelli's Team normally hosts cheese tasting classes here, they enjoy supporting local producers for pop-up events, especially during the holiday season. https://www.antonellischeese.com/ @AntonellisChz
***Carla Crownover and Paula Foore of Springdale Handmade originally conceived of the venture as a way to make all natural, seasonal soaps using herbs and produce grown on Springdale Farm. Their immediate popularity propelled the creation of body butters, scrubs, salves, bath products, and candles, as well as collaboration products featuring local artisan goods like honeys and coffees. http://www.springdalefarmaustin.com/springdale-handmade/ @SpringdaleHandmade

***Fall Creek Vineyards was established in 1975 by Texas businessman/rancher, Ed Auler and his wife, Susan. The vineyards are located eighty miles northwest of Austin in the Texas Hill Country where the sandy loam soil, warm days and cool breezes off Lake Buchanan provide an excellent microclimate for growing premium wine grapes. They have also recently opened a Tasting Hall on FM 1826 just south of Austin. http://www.fcv.com/ @FallCreekVineyards
