Event description

Description

For delicious, picture-perfect spring and summer crops of spinach, lettuce, peas, kale
and broccoli, now’s the time to plant.

Inexperienced or experienced gardeners, have we got an exciting series for you!

Join Tony Gobert, an 8th generation farmer and lead instructor of horticulture at Gwinnett Tech, who will be coming to Alegre Farm to teach and improve your gardening skills to create your best garden ever!

This is the second 4-class series of 5 that will provide answers to your questions and give hands on experience. Tony doesn't just tell you, he shows you! That's the beauty of learning with us!

Here are some topics that will be covered in this first workshop:

  • Learn how to start a successful spring, environmentally responsible food garden that provides delicious vegetables and herbs for the spring and summermonths.

  • This course stresses sustainable gardening practices such as mulching, efficient watering methods, on-site composting, integrated pest management, and use of soil amendments.

  • Topics will include preparing a bed early spring and summer crops, cover crops, installing transplants, harvesting, some pest control, and watering techniques.

Remember this is a 4 class series for only $39 thanks to our generous sponsor NRCS!

Classes will from 6pm-8pm on the following dates:

April 25th

May 2nd

May 9th

May 16th

Have your garden, and eat it, too!

To ensure high-quality classes, we limit class sizes to 15 people. We look forward to seeing you there!
