Event Details

The American Indian Cancer Foundation, the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the American Cancer Society and the Minnesota Department of Health-Sage Programs invite you to attend the:

“Spring Screening: Strengthening Partnerships to Maximize Cancer Outcomes across American Indian Communities” conference on April 2-3, 2019 at the Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minnesota.

The conference is intended to provide an opportunity for community, clinic, urban, and tribal members to discuss and share strategies relating to cancer disparities among our American Indian communities in the Northern Plains.  American Indians from the Northern Plains have a higher cancer incidence and mortality rates and are more likely to be diagnosed at later stages. The conference will bring together national and local experts, survivors and educators to promote national guidelines for colorectal cancer screening services among American Indian populations. The conference will engage participants to implement evidence-based strategies to promote and improve cancer screening via promising practices. Working with partners is critical to improving cancer screening rates in American Indian Communities.

This conference is free to all attendees.

We are looking for one or two organizations that would be interested in sponsoring this conference. Sponsors would have the option of including their logo in the flyer and agenda as well as announce your sponsorship during the conference.  If interested, please contact Jenelle Elza at jenelle.elza@cancer.org/ 715.209.6883 by March 1, 2019.

We have a limited number of tables available for vendors wishing to provide health related resources at the conference. If interested, please contact Dai Vu at dai.vu@state.mn.us/ 651.201.5611 by March 15, 2019.

Special room rates at Black Bear Casino Resort  are available at $47.20/night. Please mention "Spring Screening: Colorectal Cancer Conference" when booking your room.
