Event description

Description

Spring is all about planting the seeds for abundance and starting new processes, what better way to prepare ourselves than with a deeply restorative practice.

Over two hours Mary-Anne from Simply Breath Yoga will take us through a restorative Yoga practice and a session of Yoga Nidra.

This combination, delivered by an experiences and specially trained Yoga teacher, is perfect for restoring us to the fulest versions of ourselves.

::Restorative Yoga::

In response to the fast paced lifestyle that many of us live, our nervous system gets a bit of a workout. Based on the teachings of B.K.S Iyengar, Restorative Yoga at its core is a practice of passive healing. It is intended to carry the student into a deep state of relaxation by staying in supported poses with the use of props.

The change we are seeking when practicing restorative yoga is very subtle. The physical sensations should feel are minimal as the body finds space to gently open into the support of the props. This is unlike other styles of yoga where we focus on moving the body a certain way or holding a pose.

The physiological benefits of the practice are immeasurable. One of the major benefits of Restorative Yoga is the effect it has on the nervous system. Too much time in a stressed state and the body decreases its ability to carry out basic daily functions, like proper respiration, digestion, and elimination.

With its balancing, healing qualities for the nervous system, Restorative yoga is therefore a suitable for every body! If you can breath, you can do Yoga.

::Yoga Nidra::

Yoga Nidra or 'Yogic sleep' is a state of awareness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and we have the chance to becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. Yoga Nidra is slightly different to meditation (in which we try to concentration on a single focus). In Yoga Nidra, we are led to withdrawing 4 of our 5 senses, just following the sound of Mary-Ann's voice.

Yoga Nidra and its host of benefits have been observed and collaborated over many studies. We know its powerful stuff and we can't wait to share it with you.
