About this Event
Join us on April 10th for a special Spring Melt evening, all from the safety and comfort of your own home! The Melt makers and shakers are busy crafting all the best elements that typically go into Food Forward's Spring Melt. Food Forward supporters and food justice warriors of all stripes and types will be able to piece together these Melt elements in their own living rooms. FAQ:
- I usually love Food Forward's Spring Melt. Will the virtual Spring Melt incorporate any of the same fun elements of the original Melt? You betcha! While we won't be gathering together this year for our fun anti-gala, we're making lemonade out of lemons. This year's Melt will take all the fruitastic elements of our physical event and bring it into the comfort of your own home. Yes, we're going out on a limb, but that's where the fruit is and what Food Forward does best! And it's also what Food Forward does to ensure over 2 million people get free, nutritious fruits and vegetables 365 days a year, every year.
- Okay, but really, what is the Spring Melt all about this year? On April 10, 2021, the Melt will be back again, taking place in living rooms across the California Southlands and beyond. Each ticket gives you access to your own digital party kit, the streamed program, and our all-new silent auction. And if you would like to make your Melt even more special, check back as the Melt gets closer for special add-ons!
- Is the Spring Melt a family-friendly event? Absolutely! The more the merrier.
- Is there a dress code? In true Food Forward fashion, we encourage all of our Melt participants to sport their fruity and festive wear! While you're at it, take a picture of yourself and post it using #SpringMelt2021 so we can all be part of the fun.
- What is the digital Spring Melt kit and when do I get it? The digital Spring Melt kit will be your ticket to building out your Melt at home! It contains recipes and coupons from some of our favorite partners, food waste craft instructions, a playlist, an interactive game, and more! The kit will be emailed to all registrants the week of April 5th.
- Food Forward sounds amazing, but I have another virtual event that requires my attendance. How else can I support this work? We will gratefully accept donations (of any size!) -- click here to make your contribution. We also invite you to peruse our website for additional opportunities to get involved.
- I want to attend the Melt but cost is a concern. Not to worry! Please email alia@foodforward.org for more information on receiving a sponsored ticket.
- I have another question! Keep them coming! Email alia@foodforward.org with any other questions you might have.
The Melt wouldn't be the Melt without our generous and talented culinary and beverage partners. Our chef and mixologist partnerships have been one of the keystone features of The Spring Melt. While we won't be able to host these partners in person this year, we're so grateful to all who have participated in The Spring Melt in the past. The food and beverage industry has been especially hard-hit by the pandemic. If so inclined, some ideas on how to support our restaurant community are as follows:
- Order takeout
- Purchase gift cards & merchandise from your favorite restaurants
- Support retailers that carry local items
- Contribute to the Independent Restaurant Coalition, No Us Without You, or other organizations that are providing assistance to our restaurant partners and their employees.
