Refreshments, light bites and dessert will be served. The event is an open house format so you can shop anytime between 11am and 3pm.
More about Mending Matters...
Mending Matters is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides mental health and support services to high school students in San Diego. By partnering with school districts to provide services directly on school campuses, they can meet students where they are. Their team of therapists provide individual and group counseling, as well as crisis support.
At this time Mending Matters is providing services in 10 high schools around San Diego, with that number growing each school year. Only operational since 2014, they have already served over 1,600 students! There is an immense need for the services that Mending Matters provides. The schools they are currently contracted with are located in the most poverty stricken areas of San Diego, where kids are dealing with homelessness, drug abuse, stressful situations at home, sex trafficking and recent immigration from extremely unstable countries.
Your participation in this event will contribute to expanding the workforce of Mending Matters and ultimately provide each student with someone to talk to and a place to feel safe. In spite of their best efforts, the need exceeds Mending Matters's ability to meet with every student, as they have wait lists at every high school campus in which they are present. Nearly 80% of youth defined as needing mental health care services do not receive the care that they need.
