Spring Kick-Off 3v3 & 1v1 Soccer Tourney presented by McClellan's Taekwondo Academy

This is the premier 3v3 tournament in Columbus, plus a super neat 1v1 tournament! Start your spring season off with the premier soccer tourney of the year. Limited to 80 teams. The tournament has sold out every year. We will be following all tournament guidelines for COVID 19 regarding social distancing, masks, etc. We will make this a fun event!

Here are the details:

  • What: Spring Kick-Off Presnted by McClellan's Taekwondo Academy
  • Location: Field Sports / SportsOhio (6400 Dublin Park Dr, Dublin, OH 43016) –Indoors (if weather permits and not cold a few games may be outdoors)
  • Time frame: Noon - 5PM. All games will be played within about 3-4 hours, no long waits between games.
  • Entry prices 3v3 Teams $140 per team (increases to $160 per team on Friday 2/5) – Amazing price!! 1v1 Tournament - Super Sale of $30 till Friday 2/5!
  • Limited to 80 teams
  • Age Groups: U7 - Adult
  • Games Played: 3v3 plays 4 - 20 minute games. 1v1 plays 4-6 games of 4-5 minutes in length.
  • Divisions: Planned multiple divisions - Recreational to Elite
  • Trophies / Medals: 1st - 6th Place! (same awards for 3v3 & 1v1)
  • Cornhole Challenge: Each player will get one free chance to toss a bean bag at Cornhole to try and win different prizes. They choose the distance to try and the further the distance the better the prize / harder the risk! Each tries are $1 and all proceeds donated to charity.
  • New 2021 Soccer Series: This is part of our new soccer series where points will be awarded for 1st - 6th place. It will change the trophies or medals you will receive after each tourney and will tie to the Columbus Soccer Tourney (6/19/21), Holiday Cup (Dec 2021) and potentially other tournaments if we add them in 2021). This will be a new point / ranking system! More details to come.
  • No parking or admission fees - ever.

The tournament is a fun way to start your spring season.  All games will be played with Bownet goals (except 7-8 year olds may use Pugg goals). 1v1 tournament is played with smaller goals Pugg type goals (size of goal will vary).

Teams can win the following:

  • 1st place & 2nd place trophies
  • 3rd - 6th place medals by age group/gender
  • Top 4 team by age group qualify for the Challenge Sports 3v3 nationals at Disney World! - 3v3 tourney only 
  • New point system - teams will be ranked during the year - with special awards at the end of 2021!

Entry fee (price per team):

  • Early Entry (12/19 - 1/6): $120
  • Entry (1/7 - 2/5): $140
  • Mid Entry (2/6 - 2/10): $160
  • Late Entry (2/11 - 2/24): $180

Final entry date: 11:30 pm Wednesday, 2/24  (if not sold out). Once we have 80 teams entered, we will close off entry.   Your team will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Note: All games played on Saturday.

COVID 19 Requirements:

The tournament will follow all social distancing requirements, masks, and all other protocols adopted by the Ohio Department of Health in regards to their soccer return to play guidelines. Hopefully things will ease up as we get closer. See Health Requirements: CLICK HERE

Tournament Check In:

Check In: All check in this year will be done electronically! Email check-in will be offered this year not requiring a 30 minute pre-game check-in.  What is required for email check in is Waiver Form (signed by parents & coach) and a digital version of proof of age (Only one of the following: player card, birth certificate, passport, drivers license, student ID, or some item that can legally prove age).

Schedules: Event schedules are sent to the person who registered the team by Sunday before the tournament.

Ages: U7 (2014) to Adult, 4 games minimum per team all  age groups.   ** Note:  Age groups are based on calendar year, based on current US Soccer standards

All games will utilize Bownet goals!!

1v1 Rules

Unless noted below, all rules will follow same rules for 3v3 (see 3v3 rules):

  • Games are 4-5 minutes in length (depending on age)
  • Goal Box is 2' x 4' (see rules below)
  • After a goal, the restart is each player goes to their end line (for the goal they defend). With the player who was scored on starting with the ball.
  • Goals can only be scored at or after the midfield line (to be indicated by a cone at midfield)
  • Game ends with either expiration of time or point difference of 7 points



PLAYER REGISTRATION: All players must be registered on their teams' registration form before the tournament begins. Any team or player determined by the event director to have falsified age or skill level will be dismissed from the tournament. All players must carry proof of age - birth certificate, player card, or some form of age verification. (except U7-U9 perferabaly some validation of age) 

ROSTERS: All rosters are final upon completion of the team's first game.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Six is the maximum number of players on a team; three field players at one time. Players may only play on one team per division. There are no goalkeepers in 3-v-3 soccer. Substitutes may occur at any dead ball situation, but players must get referees attention and enter and exit at the half-field mark only.

GENDER: No males will be allowed to participate in any female divisions, except co-ed division. Females CAN play in male divisions. Co-ed division must have at least one female on the field at all times.

EQUIPMENT: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. Teams are responsible for providing game balls. Preferred Ball Size for U7 = #3; U8-U12 = #4; U13 and up = #5. In the event that age divisions are combined, the teams should use the older division’s ball size.

GOAL BOX: The goal box, ten feet wide by eight feet long, is directly in front of the goal. No player may touch the ball within the goal box, however any player may move through the goal box. Any part of the ball or player's body on the line is considered in the goal box; the player is an extension of the box. An INFRACTION occurs if a defender touches the ball in the goal box, a penalty kick is awarded to the offensive team. If an offensive player touches the ball within the goal box, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. Habitual touches in the goal box MAY result with a Yellow Card given to offending party. If the ball comes to a complete stop in the goal box, regardless of which team touched it last, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. The goals are approximately 4 feet high by 8 feet wide.

GAME DURATION: The game shall consist of one 20 minute game (no halftime), OR the game shall end when a team reaches a 10 goal lead. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie. Except Playoffs, this will be a 3 minute golden goal period followed by a shootout.  Game clock will start regardless if the teams are ready to play (unless the game is delayed due to a prior game).

GOAL SCORING: A goal may be scored from a touch on the offensive half on the playing field.

SCORING (IN POOL PLAY): Games will be scored according to the following: 3 points for a win; 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.

TIEBREAKERS: In pool play, ties between two or more teams will be broken by; 1) head to head results between tied teams; 2) goal difference in pool play Maximum of 5 goals per game; 3) Fewest goals against in Pool Play; 4)playoff team shootout with entire rosters.

PLAYOFF OVERTIME: TEAMS WILL HAVE A 3 MINUTE “GOLDEN GOAL” OVERTIME PERIOD. If the score is still tied, the winner shall be decided by shootout with the 3 players on the field at end of golden goal period.


FIVE YARD RULE:In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball. If the defensive player's goal area is closer than five yards, the ball shall be placed five yards from the goal area in line with the place of the penalty.

KICK-INS: The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of throw in.

INDIRECT KICKS: All dead ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kick-offs) are indirect with exception to corner and penalty kicks.

GOAL KICKS: May be taken from any point on the end line, and not in the goal box area.

KICK OFF: May be taken in any direction.

PENALTY KICKS: Shall be awarded if, in the referee's opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction. It is a direct kick taken from the top of the center circle (15ft. line) on the offensive side of the midfield line with all other players behind the midfield line. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with a goal kick. Penalty kicks are not live balls.

PLAYER EJECTION (YELLOW/RED CARD): Referees have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending the player off. RED CARD suspension = Rest of game PLUS next game. Tournament Director may eject player for rest of tournament. Teams still play with 3 on the field

FORFEITS: A forfeit shall be scored as 5-0.

SPORTSMANSHIP: Players, coaches and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event.
