Spring Garden Buds at Queens Botanical Garden

About this event

We welcome you and your toddler to join our Garden Buds program! Tailored to our youngest gardeners, these classes let children explore the wonder of nature through hands-on work and play in the garden, harvest garden produce, and create botanical crafts. Each child must be accompanied by only one adult. Please, no siblings.

This program is all outdoors and masks are required for all participants.

Please read ALL below information before registering.

Program Information

    • FRIDAYS, April 29 - June 10
    • SATURDAYS, April 30 - June 11
    • SUNDAYS, May 1 - June 12
  • Times:
    • 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM OR
    • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

*Excludes Friday May 27, Saturday May 28, and Sunday May 29

Class repeats on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Please sign up for only one day and time slot.

Only in the event of cancellations by QBG due to severe weather, we may hold add an extra day of programming, the weekend following the final session.

Session Duration: Once per week for 6 weeks. The class meets 6 times.

Age: 2 – 3 year-olds

Cost: $180 Non-Member / $162 Member

Discounted parking options will be available with registration.

More Information:

  • Garden Buds is held entirely outdoors. The program is held in the Children's Garden, and also under the covered gazebo, which serves as protection from rain.
  • The program runs rain or shine, except for very severe weather
  • All participants and staff will wear masks each day.
  • All participants and staff will practice social distancing unless for emergencies.
  • Families can buy a Donation ticket during registration to help support our Scholarship fund for all current & future Kids Programs.
  • QBG reserves the right to cancel the program if it does not fill

Health & Safety

Although the event is outdoors, part of the program is taking place in an enclosed area with limited space. Mask-wearing is required to participate in this program. While exploring the garden independently from this program, you are not required to wear masks while social distancing from other guests. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring this event is safe for everyone!

Discounts

Members with Family Membership and above receive a 10% discount by using the code MEMBER. Siblings can receive a 5% discount by using the code SIBLING. No discounts may be applied after your transaction is processed.

Families can also buy a Donation ticket during registration to help support our Scholarship fund for future Kids Programs.

Refund Policy

If you must cancel after registering, notify the Kid's Programs staff at 718-886-3800 x218 or kidsprograms@queensbotanical.org at least 30 full days before the start of the program and the Garden will refund your fee, minus a $10 registration fee per child.

Refunds for cancellations less than 30 days prior to the start of the program will be issued only if a registrant from a waiting list will fill the space. Refunds and credits are not issued for partial attendance or after the program begins. Registrations are nontransferable.

Cancellations

Program dates will be canceled if there is heavy rain, thunderstorms, or other inclement weather. Please note, programming will be conducted outdoors in light to medium rain, with outdoor shelter from the rain. In the case that an event is cancelled, you will be notified via email.

Garden Etiquette

QBG staff strives to provide a place of peace, beauty, and safety for the quiet enjoyment of our visitors. QBG is a living museum, a collection of gardens for the study, culture, exhibition, and display of plants. By public transportation, take the number 7 subway line to Main Street, the Long Island Rail Road (Port Washington line) to Main Street/Flushing, or the Q44-SBS or Q20 bus. For driving directions and more information, please visit our website.
