Spring Equinox Night Hike-Ottawa and Kaskaskia Canyons
Date and time
Ranger/Naturalist Led Night Hike. All Trails Close at Sunset to the Public.
About this event
Did you know that the park closes at sunset? Yes, all visitors must be off of the park’s trails by sunset.
This March we will hike into the eastern edge of the park at sunset as we explore the natural sandstone trails and creek crossings of Council Overhang, Ottawa Canyon, and Kaskaskia Canyon. Park Naturalist Lisa Sons will tell the tales of human inhabitation in the area dating as far back as 10,000 years ago or the end of the last ice age.
Plan to dress for the weather and wear waterproof/mudproof boots as well as a change of shoes and socks after the hike is done!
Don't forget your headlamp or small flashlight.
Night hikes are not recommended for young children and dogs are not allowed. Thank you for understanding.
