MMC Studio Production Workshop presents Spring Awakening, written by Frank Wedekind, translated and adapted for the American stage by Rick Foster. Written in 1891, Wedekind’s play is set in a small German town where adolescent boys and girls grope their way towards knowledge and maturity against the blocks set up by their parents and teachers in the name of “morality.” Spring Awakening is partly about the misuse of authority, and central to its theme is the reality that ignorance is the greatest threat to innocence. Spring Awakening is performed by students in the Theatre Arts programs of the College with direction by Kevin Connell, lighting design by Christopher Parrish, and stage management by Michael Ireland.
