SITE
Amy M. Ho

8 sessions >> Tuesdays, February 6–March 27
6:30–9:30 pm, Studio 10, $385
No prerequisite.

This class will focus on site-specific artwork. Students will be introduced to a variety of artists that address the surrounding environment in the design and creation of their artwork. We will explore the work of artists experimenting in a wide range of mediums and discuss the documentation of these works. Weekly readings combined with brief lectures will serve as the basis for class discussion. In addition to weekly assignments, students will be asked to develop one final site-specific installation to be finished at the end of the semester. Class time will be split between lecture, discussion, critique and studio time. The class will include two off-campus field trips.

Sample class assignments: 1) Create a work that reacts to the architecture of the classroom, 2) Create a work that reflects the usage of a specific space, and 3) Create a site specific work and bring in documentation of the work.

Visit the SFAI website here, click on your course title, and then click on the blue "Materials List" link underneath the course dates. If you have any questions regarding materials, please contact Public Education Staff.

What are my transport/parking options getting to San Francisco Art Institute?
All classes meet at 800 Chestnut Street (unless otherwise noted), between Jones and Leavenworth. You can find directions to campus on the SFAI website.
