Dona M. Dmitrovic, MHS from Foundation for Recovery
Dona is the Executive Director of Foundation for Recovery in Las Vegas, and formerly the National Director of Consumer Affairs for Substance Use Disorders within the Product Innovation team at Optum, United Health Group. Dona is in long-term recovery and a family member supporting loved ones in addiction and mental health recovery. Her prior experience includes Chief Operating Officer of the RASE Project in Harrisburg, PA leading the nationally recognized, Buprenorphine Coordinator Program, supporting persons with opioid dependence in medication assisted recovery.
Presentation Title: We Do Recover!
This presentation will highlight the history of opioid addiction and recovery in the United States. Peer recovery support service models will be featured that are used to engage and sustain individuals with opioid and prescription drug addiction in their journey to recovery. Discussion on fighting stigma to encourage individuals on their path of recovery and importance of embracing a recovery-oriented system of care will also be explored.
