This 4-part series provides expert guidance and high-quality resources to those planning to take the Early Childhood, Childhood, or Special Education edTPA. Open to all graduate and undergraduate students completing their student teaching during the fall semester.
Session 1: Overview and Intro - Saturday, February 4th, 10-1
This workshop will provide an overview of the edTPA including using the manual, creating a timeline for completion, planning strategies, and important vocabulary.
Session 2: Task I - Saturday, February 18th, 10-1
This workshop will focus on unit and lesson planning and reflection prior to implementation as well as commentary writing.
Session 3: Task II - Saturday, March 11th, 10-1
This workshop is designed for those have made significant progress in Task 1. This workshop will include an in-depth exploration of Task 2, including strategies for lesson implementation, videotaping, using evidence, and commentary writing.
Session 4: Tasks III/IV- Saturday, April 8th, 10-1
This workshop is designed for those who have made significant progress in both Tasks 1 and 2. This workshop will focus on task three (and task four, when relevant) of the edTPA with specific emphasis on planning for effective assessment, selecting focus children, analyzing learning, and commentary writing.
Please note that although registrations are transferable, cancellations are subject to a 50% fee.
About the presenter:
Meredith Resnick began her career as a classroom teacher and then became a learning specialist. She has been teaching at Brooklyn College since 2010 and in that capacity has taught a host of graduate and undergraduate seminars. She has supervised many cohorts of students in their pre-service student teaching placements and supported them throughout the edTPA process. Dr. Resnick holds a doctorate (Ed.D) in educational leadership, a masters (MA) in curriculum and teaching, and another masters (M.Ed) in special education.
