Event description

Description

The CHARGED as the Voice for Change in Health Disparities Research Symposium is designed to highlight and celebrate the efforts of SPRF in supporting and furthering NIH’s mission. Please join us to learn about the Forum’s history and current efforts and activities, and recognize leading figures who advanced the group’s ability to impact biomedical research workforce diversity by supporting underrepresented groups and health disparities research. It is a notable opportunity to become involved in this large cadre of Trans-NIH participants committed to stimulating interest in the multiple dimensions involved in achieving health research equity. Furthering the impact of this collaborative group will also enhance a greater capacity to contribute and innovate within the participants’ respective ICOs.

The SPRF Special Interest Group seeks to build and foster a community of intramural and extramural NIH staff who share an interest and have expertise in diversity and health disparity issues. The group provides a trans-NIH forum for sharing, examining programs and initiatives and strategies that enhance and accelerate the development of the research careers of individuals from diverse populations and strengthen efforts to reduce health disparities. The SPRF encourages the career and professional development of its members through peer mentoring and mutual support; serves as a resource to the NIH’s diversity and workforce development communities; and recommends topics and speakers for a range of events including the NIH Research Festival and Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series. SPRF is open to all NIH and HHS staff with an interest in enhancing the diversity of the nation’s research enterprise.
