Spotlights' Theatre Camp 2023

For Students Who Have Completed Grades 1 - 6

This one-week, performance-based camp serves as an introduction to musical theatre. Designed for children who have completed Grades 1 through 6, the camp is carefully articulated so that returning campers develop their performance skills by participating in fun, age-appropriate activities in the areas of music, dance/movement, and acting. During craft time, students work on projects that serve as costumes, props, and scenery for the production. Recreation time is included each day.

The instruction is provided by experienced teachers, aided by experienced teenage volunteer interns. Roles are cast on the first day of camp at the discretion of the directing team and announced at Monday’s pickup. Not all children will be assigned a speaking role.  There is no appeal process for casting decisions. No experience is necessary. Theatre Camp is not a guarantee of casting in a future Spotlights’ show, nor is it a requirement.

The camp culminates with two performances of Disney’s Aristocats on Friday evening. Performances will take place at the Spotlights Theater Building, and participation in the performances is required. Each participant will receive two complimentary tickets for the performances.  Reservations are required. Additional tickets may be purchased during camp (based on availability). Camper packets containing scripts and music will be available for pick up two weeks prior to camp.

Note: Participation in the Theatre Camp 2023 is not a guarantee of casting in a future show, nor is it a requirement.

The Spotlights Board of Trustees will continue to evaluate its Covid Policies based on recommendations from local, state, and national health agencies.
