Event description

Description

The First-Ever Sport Movement Skill Conference is rapidly approaching!

The Conference theme for this ground-breaking event will take on an emphasis of “Using Ideas from Ecological Dynamics to Enhance Motor Behavior in Sport.”

Dear Friend in Sport Movement Enhancement,

It is truly my pleasure and honor to welcome both attendees and speakers to contribute to this conference with the aim of understanding sport movement behavior more deeply.

I live and breathe by words uttered years ago by Dr. Mel Siff & Dr. Yuri Verkhoshansky in their famous text, Supertraining, when they stated that: “Sport is a problem solving activity where movements are used to produce the necessary solutions.” Movement truly is the glue that binds our athletes with their environments. Thus, no matter what hat you wear in the athletic performance field, movement skill acquisition should be of the highest importance to you.

The late and great motor behavior scientist, Nikolai A. Bernstein, eloquently stated, “No natural phenomenon can be understood without carefully considering how it emerged.” Thus, how you currently view sport movement behavior, both in regards to motor control as well as skill acquisition, will drastically influence the way you coach and teach.

With Bernstein’s guiding words from above, it’s time for a sport movement skill revolution! All of us coming together at an event like this, through each and every one of you, will be that primer to the sport movement skill fire. At the Sport Movement Skill Conference, we will aim to link the theories, concepts, and practical applications of the world’s best Sport Movement Practitioners to increase the understanding of sport motor behavior and establish higher standards for optimizing movement skill within sport.

WE are the MOVEMENT!

The goal of the event is integration: my hope is that this platform brings together forward thinking individuals ranging from those in the coaching world, to those in sport medicine, as well as the brilliant minds of professors and scientists in academia and research, respectively. I implore anyone and everyone who is interested in sport movement skill to attend. It is my wish that we can collectively participate in a learning environment which facilitates deeper thought processes which are able to impact sport movement at every level of mastery.

I am humbled by the reception of individuals here in the United States who represents a group of truly world class thought leaders as it pertains to a variety of topics related to sport movement studies. Through them and because of you, this event will be unlike any that the profession has ever seen. I look forward to speaking to each one of you on 4/6 & 4/7 and hearing more about your exceptional work.

Till next time, let’s all continue to master the art of optimizing movement.

Yours in Movement Mastery,

Shawn Myszka, Conference President
