Event description
On this one-day course, you’ll learn how to carve a wooden spoon with seasoned maker and author Deborah Schneebeli-Morrell.

About this Event

You will learn each stage of the spoon carving process from the axe to the knife, as well as how to select wood and use your tools safely. Be inspired by several spoons in a variety of styles. By the end of the course, you’ll understand the tools of the trade, you'll have crafted your own spoon (and get to take it home), and you'll have the foundational techniques to continue your spoon carving journey!

Deborah Schneebeli-Morrell likes using raw or discarded material and transforming it into something beautiful and useful. This ranges from painting/collage, sewing, making rag rugs, paper cutting to carving wooden spoons. Deborah originally trained in Fine Art and received a grant from the Crafts Council in 1987. She has exhibited work widely and has taught in schools, art schools and art residencies. She has written 30 project-based craft books on a range of subjects and wants to encourage and value 'handwork' and creativity.

This event is organised by Yodomo Ltd for the Future of Craft event at The Bargehouse, London as part of London Craft Week 2019.
