Event description
This family friendly event promises to be a real SCREAM!! And perfectly spooky, really scary and a whole lot of fun.

About this Event

America is not a young land; rather, it is old, dirty and evil. Long before the settlers arrived and even long before native Americans crossed the Bearing Strait ... the evil was here... waiting.

In the heart of the Ozark mountains of Arkansas lies an abandoned encampment of the mythical Aurignacean that surrounded Pinnacle Springs in north Faulkner County. The spring was sought for its healing properties and served to support a sanitarium where the Aurignacean could send their mentally insane and violently deranged warriors to live out their remaining days. After the land was abandoned by the Aurignacean it became home to freed slaves who terraced and tilled the land for cotton and for a short time prospered. However, one by one the families pulled up and left often leaving their homes and belongings behind. There were rumors of "encounters" and reports of "spirits of the vanquished hunting and feasting" in the darkness of night but they were never proven true. Empty of people the land returned to forest and nearly all traces of the terraces, the encampment and the sanitarium were lost to the wilderness until Trace Hopkins and his family moved there and found an old cracked pot filled with thousands of small cedar berry seeds with tiny holes cut through them. The berries were taken to a specialist at U of A and found to be Paleolithic ghost spirit beads representing the eternal interconnection of the earth, trees, animals and humans. These particular spirit beads -- some of the which were carefully and intricately painted in a multiple of colors -- were to be worn as a reminder that nothing is perfect and that person wearing such beads was a "mistake".

In 1988 a team of archaeologists uncovered several stone, wooden and woven relics at Pinnacle Springs confirming the site's Paleolithic origin. The relics so disturbed Trace that he closed the site down, reburied the artifacts and soon thereafter sold the property to us, Cadron Creek Outfitters. Trace and his family still live on the property but rarely now venture outside their home. However, since we acquired the property we decided to resume exploration and have already found many artifacts -- more ghost spirit beads and bracelets, drinking bowls, and even several wooden masks.

We recently hired two young intrepid explorers to help us in the search -- they left by canoe a couple of days ago but have not yet returned. On Halloween we are inviting the public to come help us find the explorers and experience other attractions as we open our doors to the public the weekend of October 30 and 31. Guests will first board a hay ride and tour the ancient Paleolithic encampment that once surrounded Pinnacle Springs. We'll then meet with Trace and his family who will share their excitement in first finding the cache of spirit ghost beads. The ride will then descend into the depths of a narrow gorge where we will disembark and begin our search for the missing explorers. Be prepared as this short quarter mile lighted hike through the woods will leave kids clinging to their parents legs. And don’t let the tranquil forest environment fool you, this place is known for strange supernatural sightings as sinister energies have warped the usual somber forest into a nightmarish landscape where horrors beckon and call from the dimly lit corners of the park.

Other attractions include Trick-Or-Treat Village, costume contest, pumpkin carving contest and lots of scary campfire stories. And for those souls foolish enough to camp so close to something so terrible as a desecrated burial ground we offer a horror-themed camping experience for adults 18 and over. If only they can survive the night.

We look forward to your visit.
