Event description
Tell a true story, win a free drink! Meet new people without the stupid apps.

About this Event

Spontaneous Storytelling is a live show that combines the fun of meeting new people with hearing and telling true stories. Everyone who gets up to tell a true, 5-minute story from their life, wins a free drink ticket.

If you're familiar with the podcast "The Moth" or even "Muni Diaries" - it's like that, but more casual and fun. Anybody can do it. The stories all have to be true and about you, the storyteller. They can be on any topic as long as they're 5 minutes or less.

How it works:

The event starts with a social game, then we take turns telling stories and giving away drinks. Telling a story is optional, but fun!

For the icebreaker game, the object is to meet other people and ask them questions from a Game Card. Or you can bring a bunch of friends and all play together.

Answers from the Game Cards become part of the show. The game makes it easy to get up on "stage" and tell a story. You will meet a lot of new people! It's optional, but highly entertaining. *Our stage is only 4 inches high*

Then it’s time for storytelling. Put your name in the hat for a chance to tell a true, 5-minute story from your own life. Or just listen and laugh.

The Rules: no reading or notes allowed; stories must be true, about you, and 5 minutes or less. We’ll have a volunteer timer to help you stick to the time limit.
