Sponsor a hiker or rider for
the East Bay Hills Thru-Hike & Ride
and help complete the Bay Area Ridge Trail.

You can help complete the Bay Area Ridge Trail when you make a tax-deductible gift to support a participant in the East Bay Hills Thru-Hike & Ride trail event for hikers and equestrians.

It's easy. Just decide how much you'd like to donate per day/miles hiked or ridden; then donate online using Eventbrite.

We suggest that you check with the person you’re sponsoring to see how many days/miles they'll be traveling. Hikers and riders can enjoy the event for as many days as they'd like, from one to five (hikers) or six (riders).  Hikers average 10-14 miles/day, with about 60 miles total for the entire event.

Select the "Sponsor a Hiker or Rider" ticket type above and make a gift of $1, $5, or $10 per mile or any amount you wish - every dollar helps move us closer to our goal of a continuous ridgeline trail!  Click "Order Now" and on the next page fill in the required information - you must include the name of the participant you are sponsoring.

If you make a gift of $40 or more you'll be a member of the Council for one year at the individual level ($55 gets you the family membership). With a gift of $125 or more we'll send a copy of the brand new edition of Bay Area Ridge Trail: The Official Guide for Hikers, Mountain Bikers, and Equestrians with maps and descriptions for over 300 miles of the trail.

The top fundraisers will win gear donated by REI and books from Wilderness Press.

Donations must be received by September 30 in order to be included in totals for prize distribution.  Please encourage your friends and family to complete their donations early!

Bay Area Ridge Trail Council

The Bay Area Ridge Trail Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit uniting volunteers and agencies to plan, build, maintain, and promote a 550-mile multi-use trail on the ridgelines around San Francisco Bay. When complete, it will connect over 75 parks and open spaces.

The Ridge Trail serves the recreation needs of diverse communities, providing close-to-home recreation for all Bay Area residents and countless visitors. However, the Ridge Trail offers more than recreation for hikers, runners, mountain bicyclists, and equestrians: it provides an opportunity for people in the densely populated Bay Area to reconnect with the natural environment. The trail is both accessible to everyone through well-located trailheads, and remote, because users can quickly leave the urban environment and get out to unspoiled places.

The Council partners with local governments, public agencies, nonprofit land trusts, community members and trail advocates in all nine Bay Area counties. There are over 370 miles of dedicated Ridge Trail open for you to enjoy today and protected for future generations.
