Description

APRIL 6th | Relief Printing Workshop | Reinaldo Gil Zambrano

Relief-while in kindergarten, carving a potato to create a stamp introduced many of us indirectly to the work of printing. Now, you will be practicing the grown-up version of this process by drawing and carving a matrix out of linoleum to later print multiple of your desired design. In this workshop participants will learn how to take an idea on a journey from a sketch, to carved block to graphically printed matter showing you the drawing, carving and inking approaches to materialize your ideas.

APRIL 13th | Intaglio Workshop (Dry-point) | Margot Casstevens

Dry-point is a print process from the 15th century that mimics drawing. The image is created by scratching into a soft surface with a steel needle, rubbing ink into the incised lines and running the inked plate through an etching press. The image usually has a soft pencil look as the ink is held both in the incised line and in the 'burr' created by the scratching process.

APRIL 20th | Monotype Workshop | Mary Farrell

Monotype is a very painterly method of printmaking. The term monotype simply refers to a single (as opposed to an editioned) image produced from a matrix that doesn’t hold a repeatable image. In this workshop, participants will learn how to draw an image into an inked plate and pull both a print and two “ghost” prints; how to work with layers of color and stencils and how to easily register one layer to the next.

APRIL 27th | Lithography (Smart Plates) Workshop | Kevin Haas

Equally attuned to the doodler or the fastidious draftsman, polyester litho plates, known a Smart Plates or Pronto Plates, offer versatility and ease for the beginning or experienced printmaker. This workshop will introduce the basic process of lithography using polyester litho plates to explore traditional techniques and collage approaches to printmaking.
