Event Details

This activity is organized by Exploring Families. Pre-registration and pre-payment (if applicable) for each activity is required here:

Read this carefully so that you understand who gets in for free and who has to buy a ticket.
The fair is free for kids in grades K-6 and one adult chaperon per family - if you show up. There is a $5 registration fee per person in our group (grades K-6 and one chaperon) that will be fully refunded after the fair, as long as you show up.

You probably don't want to be surprised at the gate if you have to buy tickets to get in. Basically, kids in grades Kindergarten to 6 and one adult chaperon per family are free with our group, per the fair's rules.  Everyone else has to buy a ticket.  If you are only bringing children who are infant through pre-K, you can't attend with our group.  If you are only bringing youth who are in grades 7-12, you can't attend with our group. Sorry for the confusing costs below but the fair gives free admission to Educational Groups by school grades but the ticket prices are by ages.

  • Kids, grades K-6: free with our group
  • Adults, age 18+ (if you are the chaperone for your kids in grades K-6): free with our group.  If you are only chaperoning preschoolers, toddlers, babies, or kids in grades 7-12, you can not be part of our group, per the fair's rules.
  • Kids, ages 0-6: free (always free entry into the fair every day)

Exploring Families doesn't sell any tickets. Anyone who doesn't qualify to go in free with Exploring Families has to buy a ticket from the fair directly. Check out the fair's web page for pre-sales or you can buy a ticket at the same gate that our free group enters in.

  • Youths, 7th grade up to age 13: $5 (if you buy your ticket by 9/7); $8 (if you buy your ticket 9/8 or later)
  • Youths and Adults, age 14 and older: $7 (if you buy your ticket by 9/7); $11 (if you buy your ticket 9/8 or later)

Buy tickets before 9/7.
Buy tickets after 9/7 or at the gate.

If you need to buy a ticket, you can buy it at any gate, including the gate we are entering through, if you didn't already buy one in advance. Your ticket holder can enter through the same gate as our group but he must show his ticket.

Payment is required in advance via Paypal, credit card, debit card, check, or cash.  There is no "Pay at the Gate." Your reservation is confirmed when payment is received. Payment is due 4 days before the event.  If payment is not received by then, your reservation will be canceled.

Cancellation Policy: You can have a full refund if you contact Exploring Families 1 day before the event. There is no refund if you cancel after that.

Parking is available on our grounds at the Main Gate and the South Gate. Handicapped parking is located at both gates. The Interstate Fair provides handicapped accessible parking spaces, more than code requirement, on a first-come, first-served basis.  Preferred Parking is available to guests parking in the paved Main Lot (accessible from Havana Street) for $5.00 per day.  Free parking is available in the South Lot (accessible from Havana Street / south of the ballpark) which is near the STA/Train Gate.
Although it may not take you long to drive to the fairgrounds, it will take longer than you want to get into the parking lot and wind your way through it. There is traffic on the street and more traffic in the parking lot so give yourself plenty of time to park and walk to the STA/Train gate.

Check-in at the fair
Kelly Clark will be standing next to the STA/Train gate 15 minutes before our scheduled entrance time. You will see a sign that says, "Exploring Families." Please check in with Kelly so that you can be let in with our group. At exactly our entrance time, we will be let in as a group through the STA/Train gate. Per the fair's rules, if you are late, you will not be let in with our free group and our group can not be let in late.

Review the maps so that you can plan where you want to park and note where we are entering (at the STA/Train gate.)
Map/Directions: To the fairgrounds
Map: Of the fairgrounds

We do not stay together as a group inside the fair. We must enter as a group all at the same time (per the fair's rule) but once inside the gate, you are free to go wherever you like and stay as long as you want.

Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding registration or anything else about attending the fair with our group.

Group Limit: 75 students plus their chaperones, per date.
Special Promotion Days at the Fair
Want to attend the fair on another day at a great price? Then check out the fair's special promotions page. This page is updated often as special price info is added.  Check back to this page often.
