Drummer Brandt Huseman and his twin brother, guitarist Matt Huseman formed the Baltimore based garage band Splitsville in 1996 as a side project to their Sire Records power-pop combo Greenberry Woods in tandem with that band's one-time guitar tech Paul Krysiak filling the bassist role. Splitsville USA, the 1996 debut from this none-too-serious side project, was released just months before Greenberry Woods split and as a result of the split, the trio decided to continue with Splitsville full time. They signed to the Big Deal label and released Ultrasound in 1997, after which they toured extensively, sharing dates with their label mates at the time, Shonen Knife. By 1998 the group released its third album in as many years, Repeater, and again set out on a support tour, after which their label closed its doors due to financial troubles. Splitsville began writing and recording their fourth full-length, The Complete Pet Soul - a forthright nod to both Pet Sounds and Rubber Soul - and released it on Spanish label Houston Party Records in 2001. That same year, Japanese label Air Mail issued a best of, titled Bulk Rate and guitarist Tony Waddy joined the group. By late 2003, the group had released their first album as a quartet, titled Incorporated. The band then played a series of shows before going on hiatus in 2008. In 2016 they returned to play a highly successful reunion show in Vail, CO for the 50th birthday of their longtime manager Rob Toomey. 2017 finds the band working on new material and making its triumphant return to its “second home” of Chicago after a nine year absence.

Led by acclaimed drummer Brad Elvis and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Chloe F. Orwell, Chicago's The Handcuffs explore broad sonic territory while believing in the power of a great radio hook. The Handcuffs inhabit some of the same musical domain as T-Rex, Spiders from Mars Era Bowie, Cheap Trick, Franz Ferdinand and early Blondie - all filtered through a modern lens - and deliver bold, sexy songs with memorable melodies and unexpected twists. Known as much for their dynamic live shows as for being prolific writers and producers, their songs have been featured in dozens of films and television shows. The band has released three full-length albums and is currently working on the fourth. They recently released a special Cassette Store Day album called "All the Way from Chicago," featuring a "best of" style remastered sampling of their modern garage-glam songs, plus a never-before released nod to one of their influences, Mott the Hoople. "The Handcuffs are one of the few bands capable of effectively combining the spontaneity and musicianship of glam/punk with the urgency and rough-edged sound of garage rock," says Jersey Beat's Phil Rainone. “There's a sexy, swaggering street vibe throughout,” added Musoscribe's Bill Kopp. And the Chicago Sun-Times exclaims that The Handcuffs are simply "effervescent." Completing The Handcuffs powerhouse lineup are bassist Emily Togni, lead guitarist Jeff Kmeciak and keyboardist Alison Hinderliter.

Collectors, founded in 2004 and hailing from Chicago are the brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist/frontman Michael Mazza. They've been described by one notable festival organizer as "expertly crafted Brit inflected indie rock" with influences ranging from Blur to Buzzcocks to Cheap Trick (hey they are from Chicago after all). Mazza's songs are known to contain vibrant, memorable hooks with compelling lyrics and the band brings a high level of energy to its live performances reminiscent of punk rock. To date Collectors have released three records: Reverberation (2004), Travelogue (2006) and Live On WLUW Chicago (2011). The band is currently hard at work on its new record titled Future Tense which is scheduled for release later this summer. Joining Mazza in the band are Walter Kiefer (bass, keys) and Andy Noonan (guitar). They are augmented by live drummer Eric “Big Red” Prester and guest vocalist Erica Loftus.

Hyperplane are a six piece alternative/rock/blues combo from Chicago (and its related western burbs). Jon, Dave B., Sean and Jeff played together and released two full-length CDs with Joy Missile before adding Cheryl and Dave H. in 2014 and putting out their first EP as Hyperplane in 2015. Cheryl adds a formidable vocal presence in addition to some serious trumpet chops. They are as fun live as they are in your earbuds.
