Split Bill: Marie-Christine Giordano Dance/Balasole Dance Company
Marie-Christine Giordano is known for her “admirable intensity” (Jack Anderson, New York Times), “unique aura and communicative power,” and “shining artistry” (Oberon’s Grove). Settled in Brooklyn, Giordano is pleased to celebrate the 15h anniversary of her company and her contribution to the NYC dance community. She has taught her idioscyncratic dance technique & Giordano Alignment to pre-professionals, professionals, and to Brooklyn Public School children for almost two decades. Ms. Giordano “is clearly a choreographer committed to constructing a personal dance vocabulary.” Gio Kourlas, the New York Times. Her new creation "Et Maintenant" will last approximately 50'.
In this split bill concert, Roberto Villanueva presents Balasole’s 2017 NYC Season in “Molti” a new program of solos in a broad range of artistry. Past participants include artists from the Limon Dance Co, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Martha Graham Dance, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Lucinda Childs Dance. Balasole has been described by The New York Times as a “Kaleidoscope of Human Shapes”.
