Event description

Description

This course is intended to underscore the central importance of spiritual formation in any effort to seek the common good. Far from a merely inward spiritual preoccupation, we will learn about the necessity of the transformation of our souls. A case will be made for the formation of character and virtue so that we are developing the kind of people who naturally love and serve their neighbors through their work. Shifting discipleship from primarily the acquisition of knowledge to the formation of people’s inner lives is the necessary antidote to false religious performance.

We will explore themes that help congregational leaders form apprentices of Jesus that want to steward their vocational power in service of others. We will reframe understandings of discipleship, the gospel, and spiritual practices in ways that are crucial for the church to live faithfully into its calling to “shalomify” our communities.

Join Geoff Hsu, executive director of Flourish San Diego, as he shares from his work focused on the gospel, its proclamation, and its transformative impact in the lives of Christians and its subsequent renewing, redeeming, and restorative influence on the world at large.

This free series will take place from 10:30-11:30 AM CST via a Zoom meeting on August 9, September 6, October 11 and November 1. We welcome your tax-deductible donation to continue the ministry of Made to Flourish.
