Hers is an inspiring story of evolution, from Publisher to Beekeeper to Whiskey Distiller who just opened her own distillery on her farm in Long Eddy, NY , which will make Catskill Provisions Distillery one of only a few female-owned and operated distilleries in the U.S. With her award-winning NY Honey Rye Whiskey, Claire has created a perfect mix of rye, malted barley and corn with a drop of her raw wildflower NY honey to round out the tones of the Rye to create a spirit that is strong with soft edges, much like her.

In 1984, she bought Breezy Hill Orchard in Dutchess County and her operation has been ever-expanding leading up to the launch of Hudson Valley Farmhouse Cider in 1996, and the addition of several farms and orchards including Stone Ridge Orchard near New Paltz.

Casey Erdmann, Co-Owner of Fjord Vineyards

Casey Erdmann is co - owner of Fjord Vineyards with husband, Matthew Spaccarelli. Her journey into wine began in her early twenties when she entered the restaurant business: working in two very busy and well established Hudson Valley hot spots. She knew she belonged somewhere within this farm to table world - a place where people found connections through good company, great local food and wine. At 22, she met her Husband and began working as General Manager at Benmarl Winery for five years or so.

Throughout this time, Matt and Casey slowly created friendships with farmers around town and began planting vines of their own. One acre here, one acre there. It was these small plantings on unique sites, yet so close together (2-3 miles apart) that got them thinking about their own label. Fjord Vineyard was born in 2013. Casey now works as the sole sales rep for Fjord and tasting room manager at their new tasting room in Milton NY. Casey feels extremely fortunate to have found the Hudson Valley and to have made a home in such a beautiful, bountiful connecting atmosphere.
