Event description

Private Villa + Meditation Cave (Molino Del Rey*), in the mountainous orange grove region about an hour West of Malaga, Spain.

*Considered Spain’s Best Yoga Retreat and featured in Vogue, Yoga Magazine, Lonely Planet, BBC, and media.

Join yoga teachers Jessica Winderl and Sea Marie Biladeau for 5 nights/6 days unplugged and off the grid, while connecting to nature and a slower rythym. During this retreat, intentionally cultivate time + space to breathe, walk, move, meditate and find a remembrance of self and spiritual connection. Embrace the warmth of the sun, smell the orange blossoms from the nearby orchard, and walk barefoot through our private villa as you enjoy the view.

This retreat villa (www.molinodelrey.com) is spectacular and special- it is simple, clean, and offers a grounding energy through its on-property private meditation caves. Yes, private meditation caves! The yoga shala is bright and full of sunlight, and looks out over the surrounding hills and valleys. After practice (or before) enjoy a dip in the private pool that is fed from the natural springs near by, or savor a coffee or juice on the wrap-around deck while chatting with other students or writing in your journal.

Afternoons are for siestas or personal time, and daily walks/hikes will be led by Sea Marie and will incorporate sweet meditation + contemplation exercises. Spirit + Sol has been lovingly designed to offer a true retreat, or withdrawl, from the chaos and noise of daily life, and to be powerful in its simplicity. It is all about daily yoga and meditation, time spent in nature, meaningful conversations with other yogis, and shedding energetic layers that weigh us down and hold us back from connection with Source. And, of course, having some fun!

Tap in to a higher frequency, and then tune it and turn it UP. This retreat will meet you exactly where you are, flowing through the depth of your spirit and the fun and lightness of a summer holiday with close friends. As an added bonus we also have a professional photographer who will be present during the retreat taking photos- so feel confident putting your phone away and just enjoying the present moment!

Jessica and Sea Marie have been dear friends for what feels like forever- they grew up in the same town in Idaho, taught skiing together in Aspen, CO, and love to geek out on all things yoga-related. They bring a joyfulness and spirit of friendship to this retreat that is inclusive and encouraging.

Sea Marie also co-leads yoga teacher trainings in Aspen, Colorado.

The gorgeous green valley of Andalucian is flanked by orange groves and welcomes hiking and walking in the Ronda Mountains. In the nearby town, there is a simple bar but no shops or banks giving to a true retreat experience. Give way to the sacred pause that lends itself to totally relaxation and the experience of leaving it all behind.

+ Sauna

+ Spa and massage treatments (optional)

+ Studio – floor to ceiling windows with views across the Andalucian valley

Food – A private chef serves delicious, healthy meals, typically vegetarian in nature. Fresh, colorful, local, and in season- just like Ayurveda reccommends! All meals are held in a protected veranda overlooking the valley, and special dietary needs can be accommodated.

This fun afternoon excurision is optional, where we visit historical sites and visit the beautiful town of Ronda. Built astride a huge gash in the mountains carved out by the Río Guadalevín, Ronda is a brawny town with a dramatic history littered with outlaws, bandits, guerrilla warriors and rebels. Its spectacular location atop El Tajo gorge and its status as the largest of Andalucía’s white towns have made it hugely popular with tourists – particularly notable when you consider its relatively modest size. Modern bullfighting was practically invented here in the late 18th century, and the town’s fame was spread further by its close association with American Europhiles Ernest Hemingway (a lover of bullfighting) and Orson Welles (whose ashes are buried in the town).

South of the gorge, Ronda’s old town largely dates from Islamic times, when it was an important cultural centre filled with mosques and palaces. Further north, the grid-shaped ‘new’ town is perched atop steep cliffs, with parks and promenades looking regally over the surrounding mountains. Ronda is one of the oldest towns in Spain, and is unique due to its surrounding nature and history. It is built on two separate cliffs. The town is connected by the most famous bridge in Spain, known as “The New Bridge” even though it was built in 18th century.
