Event description

Description

We, South Asians, come from a big "mohalla" (neighborhood) called South Asia. Like all neighbors we have our issues, but that's not all who we are. We are also a mélange of most amazing cuisines, art, and musical forms. We are, historically, one of the most integrated regions of the world despite our incredible diversity. We want this diversity to be our strength, not a weakness.

On August 24, we will come together to celebrate our diversity and to discuss people-led solutions of the urgent issues of South Asia like climate Change, Water and Conflicts.

This event also launches a series of quarterly community-led events focusing on issues specific to South Asia amidst a celebration of food, music, and diversity of South Asian countries with a focus on neighborly relations and camaraderie.

We want to connect South Asians where ever in the world they may be and link back to South Asia on the ground.

This event is also the launch of the campaign to designate the fourth weekend of August as annual International Neighbors Day, to encourage people to reach out to neighbors on the ground in their own localities, as well as virtually in the wider region and communities across borders.

Do get in touch if you want to be part of the organizing team or want to help in any way.
