Event description

Description

The Three Principles of Spinning Babies are: Balance, Gravity and Movement.

The goals of the 3 Principles of Spinning Babies are:

*Help the baby’s chin tuck to get a smaller head circumference.
*Help baby rotate themselves so their head is coming down at an optimal angle.
*Open the pelvis wider with mother’s own positions.
*Help make the most room for baby to descend – whether in the ideal position or not.
*To reduce the times medical intervention is necessary and let baby make these changes themselves in the room the mother has accomplished with these techniques and others.

The workshop topics:

Explore the effects of occiput posterior on the length of pregnancy and labor.
Reduce or prevent long, posterior labors during pregnancy – with demonstration on a live model.
Define the difference between comfort measures and rotation techniques.
Learn a series of activities (The Three Sisters) to help bring balance to pregnancy and labor.
Learn a new approach to labor progress through pelvic stations (levels).
Try spinning techniques for:
The inlet rather than the latent phase
The midpelvis rather than the active phase
The outlet rather than second stage
Identify fetal position without hands-on palpation (touch) and within the doula scope of practice with ‘Belly Mapping'

This workshop is open to midwives, doctors, doulas, childbirth educators and bodyworkers working with pregnancy.
