Event description

Description

Presenter: Prof. Jane-Marie Wright, Professor of Mathematics and Fiber Enthusiast

Follow the journey a lock of sheep’s fleece takes as it becomes a knitted garment. The presenter will discuss how a fleece progresses from a lock on a sheep, through the process to becoming a bump of fiber. Then she will demonstrate how the bump of fiber is spun into yarn. The presentation will include PowerPoint slides, actual dirty fleece pieces to take home, and an opportunity for participants to try a drop spindle. Although the presenter will demonstrate spinning on a modern wheel, participants will NOT be allowed to take her Ashford Joy out for a spin.
