Award winning vocalist, Spider Saloff performs and evening of jazz classics and original songs with touch of comedy with pianist Ricky Ritzel.

Ms. Saloff is thrilled to be receiving the "Ongoing Jazz Artistry Award" from the Bistro Award organization on Monday, March 13th at the Gotham Comedy Club. This award is for Spider's out standing contributions to the fields of cabaret and jazz.

In this return to New York, first time since October, Saloff will perform repertoire ranging from American Songbook, to Broadway to original songs intermingled with comedic as well as poignant tales about the music and her own life. With the accompaniment of Ricky Ritzel, Spider’s long time music partner, it will be an unforgettable and delightful evening.

She’s been heard around the world as the host/ star of the syndicated public radio series Words and Music, but for thousands the most familiar way to enjoy the jazz stylings of Spider Saloff has been through live performances. The Chicago –based jazz vocalist has won accolades around the world for her introspective approach to the genre, most profoundly through her one-woman tribute to George Gershwin, The Memory of All That, conceived with the blessing of the Gershwin estate and headlining the Gershwin Centennial in St. Petersburg, Russia.

With full symphony orchestras or intimate jazz groups, Saloff is acclaimed as one of the great interpreters of the American Songbook. Saloff has composed multiple concert tributes to Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim and many others. With her vocal partners, Dee Alexander and Frieda Lee, she has performed The 3 Ella's Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald to audiences at Chicago’s Millennium Park as well as many other venues.
As composer, playwright and actress, Saloff wrote a one-woman musical, The Roar of the Butterfly that played in Chicago, Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia. Her original song "When You See Me," a jazz/R&B tune has garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube.

What the critics have said:

"More than ever, there was a simplicity of phrasing, a fine actor’s way with storytelling, and a musician’s mastery of rhythm and time that combined to make her an even more accomplished entertainer. She is, to use a well-worn phrase, at the top of her considerable game." Gerry Geddes, Bistro Awards.com, Oct 2016

"Ms. Saloff is a gifted and polished song stylist. A most enjoyable musical outing!” Rex Reed

“Saloff’s flexible pop soprano pipes are tops.” Variety
