SPFL Trust - Charity Golf Day
Wed 24 May 2017, 08:00 – 16:30 BST
On Wednesday 24th May 2017, the SPFL Trust and the Chris Mitchell Foundation are hosting a charity golf day at the prestigious Archerfield Links golf club in partnership with events specialists, Cell Events, to help raise awareness and funding for the Mental Health First Aid training campaign.
One in 4 adults will experience mental health problems in their life and the majority of people do not know how to respond to someone suffering from poor mental health. The world of football is no different.
With suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 40 it is vital that a male dominated professional sport like football, does all it can to address the issue.
The Scottish Professional Football League Trust has been providing a bespoke Mental Health First Aid training course throughout the past year. The aim is to have at least two persons in each of our clubs equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide initial help enabling those trained to identify those persons with the symptoms of poor mental health. Unfortunately, the funding for this training has been exhausted and given that we now have a waiting list for the course we are hopeful that this event will not only raise awareness but provide us with the funds to continue to reach our target of having two Mental Health First Aid representatives trained at every club.
The cost is £200 per person and all proceeds go towards funding Mental Health First Aid training.
What to expect on the day:
Coffee/tea and a breakfast roll
18 holes on the unique Fidra Links course
Guest Speakers and Event Compere before and after your round
2-course lunch within the Clubhouse
Whether your club has a representative at the event or not, we would welcome your support with any donations for the Silent Auction that we are holding on the day.
