Description

SPEED DATING for COVERING CENSUS 2020

Chicago is the nation’s capital of ethnic diversity.

We are fighting precedent, patterns and fear. To ensure an effective and diverse outreach for the 2020
Census in the Chicago region, join us as we engage community-based and legacy media who reach
traditionally hard to count communities.

Our speed dating events give leaders of community organizations an opportunity to build
relationships with journalists and share stories journalists may be missing. Following a short panel,
journalists and community leaders will have time for individual conversations.

Invited Census 2020 driven community organizations include The Chinese American Service League, Latino Policy Forum, NAACP, Gender JUST, Access Living and many others.

Invited community based, legacy media outlets include The Chicago Tribune, Block Club Chicago, City Bureau, Austin Weekly, La Raza, South Side Weekly, The Chicago Crusader and many others.

Special thanks to our co-sponsors UCAN, Forefront and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism for their support.
