Voice Aerobics, LLC, a speech-language pathology private practice serving patients in Charlotte and Sarasota County will be hosting a free community presentation on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 3-4:30 and repeating from 5:00 -6:30. Featuring Jessica Huber, PhD, CCC-SLP, a speech scientist, the event will be held at La Quinta Inn& Suites on Kings Highway in Port Charlotte, Fl.
Dr. Huber is an Associate Professor at Purdue University in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences Department. Her research emphasis is on the effects of aging and motor disorders on speech production. Her current research focus is the treatment of speech, balance, and cognitive changes as a result of Parkinson's disease and aging. She will be discussing the efficacy of a new treatment for speech disorders in individuals with Parkinson’s disease developed in the her laboratory, the Speech Vive™
Following Dr Huber’s presentation she will also have the device available for patients to try. While the Speech Vive™ is not yet on the market, it is anticipated to be available by mid 2013.
Seating is limited and registration is required, with preference given to persons with Parkinson’s Disease.
