CMs will leave this session with an understanding of what an IEP looks like, the components of an IEP and IEP meetings, as well as the professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities of a special educator. CMs will have a clearer understanding of the common types of disabilities they may encounter, and the implications those have for the classroom environment and their students' learning. As preparation for leading IEP meetings, CMs will be provided a template to use during an observation of an IEP meeting before participating in a practice IEP conversation.
